Description
Porlock Bay curves below a windswept pine and pale shingle, with layered cliffs drawing the eye along the cool blue water towards the distant headland.
A gnarled trunk rises from the foreground rocks, its branches spreading over low scrub and purple flowers. Thin white surf loops around dark tidal flats, while soft grey cloud bands settle over the hills on the far side of the inlet. The shoreline narrows gradually as it meets the horizon.
At Porlock Bay, the sheltered curve of the inlet and the steep coast can bring back a walk where the shore gradually turns towards open water. It gives visitors a clear coastal bearing, and residents may recognise the tide marks, rocky slope and long sweep of the bay.
