Description
Portsoy curves around an old stone harbour on Aberdeenshire's Moray Firth coast, where sheltered water, waterfront houses and substantial quays recall a settlement shaped by centuries of seaborne trade.
The old harbour was completed in 1693, helping this northern coastal town develop as a commercial trading port. Its location beside Links Bay places the historic waterfront directly against the Moray Firth, with harbour structures forming an important part of the town's built heritage.
Portsoy is seen from a sandy, rocky approach beside a substantial stone wall. Small boats rest on blue water within curving quays, and pale houses climb behind them. Purple flowers brighten the foreground while a broad clouded sky fills the upper view. Crisp shadows and green slopes suggest a clear day in the warmer part of the year.
