Rannoch and Tummel in Perthshire spread blue loch water between wooded hills, with small green islands and pale foreground slabs beneath broad cloud banks on a bright summer afternoon.
The Rannoch and Tummel district stretches between Queen’s View and Rannoch Station in Highland Perthshire. Its communities cluster around the two lochs and the villages of Tummel Bridge and Kinloch Rannoch. Queen’s View overlooks Loch Tummel westwards towards Schiehallion, a panorama visited by Queen Victoria in 1866.
Rannoch and Tummel open beyond pale rock slabs towards a long blue loch between green wooded hills. Two small tree covered islands interrupt the nearer water, beside larger wooded shore points. Light green fields rise from the left bank towards purple upper slopes. Broad cloud banks and fully leafy trees suggest bright summer afternoon weather across the long valley.
