Description
Ravenscar (Peak Alum Works) centres a tall stone chimney above violet-streaked cliffs, where the coast drops sharply towards a pale, winding strand far below.
A square masonry base and narrow chimney stand among broken low walls on the slope. Heather-coloured strips run through the green cliff faces, and a narrow path crosses the headland before the land falls away to blue water. Receding promontories create a strong diagonal beyond the buildings.
Ravenscar (Peak Alum Works) holds the drama of the Yorkshire coast in a single elevated prospect. The industrial remains give a walker or former visitor a fixed point against the moving sea and long cliff line, linking local working history with the headland's exposed character.
