Description
Rest and Be Thankful in Argyll opens onto a deep green valley, where dark conifer blocks and tiny white cottages give scale to the enclosing Highland slopes.
The pass dividing Glen Croe from Glen Kinglas carries a memorable name associated with the soldiers who built the old military road. Completed in 1753, that earlier route remains below the main road, recording the long history of journeys through these Argyll hills.
At Rest and Be Thankful, green valley walls converge towards a distant gap. A pale line winds along the floor between dark conifer blocks, while a broader grey road curves into the lower left. Tiny white farm buildings sit beneath the right hand slope. Golden grass and full trees suggest late summer, with large cream clouds hanging above the enclosing ridges.
