Description
Rhoscolyn on Anglesey looks over pale folded rocks towards a dark island beacon, with green coastal grass and calm blue sea beneath scattered white clouds on a bright summer afternoon.
This village occupies the southern part of Holy Island, a little over five miles from Holyhead. Its sheltered bay, Borthwen, opens towards rocky offshore skerries. A navigational beacon warns boats of these hazards on the approach, marking the relationship between the settlement and its difficult coastal waters.
Rhoscolyn faces calm blue sea beyond large pale grey rock ribs and small green grassy shelves. A tall dark beacon stands on a low offshore island, with smaller rocky skerries beside it. White foam traces their edges below the straight sea horizon. Scattered cream clouds and sunlit grass suggest a bright summer afternoon among the coastal outcrops.
