Description
Rhossili Bay stretches beneath steep, dark cliffs towards the distinctive offshore outline of Worm's Head, its broad sweep of sand catching the warm light of a late Welsh day.
A high grassy slope descends from the right and opens onto bands of wet and dry sand, each marked by a fine white edge of surf. Across the water, the low island form sits beneath a bank of peach and mauve cloud. The headland's rock face is broken into vertical planes, with a second cliff framing the lower left corner.
For those who have walked the Gower coast, Rhossili Bay can bring back the scale of a beach that changes with every tide. The route down from the cliff tops, the distant headland and the long shoreline make the place easy to hold in mind after a day outdoors. Worm's Head remains the fixed shape beyond the water.
