Description
Rhynie in Aberdeenshire lies below Tap o' Noth amid a landscape of Pictish history, with a church spire, stone cottages and an open village green in this bright summer view.
Rhynie stands at the foot of Tap o' Noth, where carved stones and excavated settlement remains reveal an important Pictish centre. Several symbol stones are displayed by the old kirkyard, while the Craw Stane survives in a nearby field, tying the village to its ancient surroundings.
A stone church with a slender grey spire occupies the left side, overlooking a wide green lawn. A small statue stands on a pedestal at the centre within white railings, and pale cottages continue behind a low wall. Green fields climb towards a broad dark hill beyond. Flowers in the foreground and dense leaves suggest summer, with long shadows across the grass.
