Description
Ribblehead Viaduct sweeps across open North Yorkshire fellside in a long line of pale stone arches, set below a broad flat-topped ridge and luminous summer clouds.
The railway track runs cleanly along the viaduct’s upper edge, while its repeated dark archways cast a strong band across the middle ground. Behind it, the broad ridge is broken into warm ochre, green and blue-grey patches, with a rocky escarpment near the summit. Rough grass and scattered boulders occupy the nearer slope, creating a low viewpoint towards the masonry.
For people who have walked or travelled through Ribblehead Viaduct, this image keeps the scale of the crossing close to the open moor.
