Description
Rigg is presented through a hilltop stone rotunda, its tall columns catching amber evening light above patchwork fields and rounded hills in Dumfries and Galloway.
A circular pavilion occupies the ridge, with a domed roof over evenly spaced uprights and a dark stone base. Behind it, pale lanes divide the valley into small parcels, while purple-grey slopes recede beneath bands of gold and peach cloud. Rough rocks and dry grass give the near ground a firm, exposed edge.
Rigg’s open setting is what carries the image. A resident or visitor can recognise the long views and changing light of Dumfries and Galloway, where a lookout above farmland offers a pause before the ground drops away towards the distant ridges.
