Description
River Nairn in Highland Scotland flows turquoise around pale shingle islands, with a low white footbridge and leafy banks below red roofed houses on a bright, softly clouded summer day.
River Nairn begins in the Monadhliath Mountains and travels northeast through Strathnairn to the Moray Firth. Its lower course passes wooded country near Cawdor before reaching the coastal town of Nairn. Along the way, tributaries including the Farnack and Allt Dearg bring water from surrounding hills into the river.
Turquoise water divides around pale gravel and small grassy islands before passing beneath a low white bridge. Leafy trees partly conceal houses with red roofs on both banks. Short green grass slopes towards the near edge, with dark bushes casting soft reflections into the channel. High cream clouds and full foliage suggest settled summer weather beside this broad, gently curving stretch.
