Description
Ross Back Sands opens along a sweeping pale beach beneath blue water and a rounded mountain, with dune grasses in the foreground lending the shore a bright, wind-shaped calm.
Fine bands of foam draw across the shallows, then fade into wet sand along the long curving bay. Dark rocks interrupt the waterline near the left edge, while tall grasses and small purple flowers cover the dune slope below the viewpoint. Inland, a steep-sided hill rises from patchwork fields beneath thick cream clouds.
For those returning to Ross Back Sands, the open strand can bring back the rhythm of walking where tide marks, grass and distant high ground remain in sight. A visitor can follow the curve of the shore towards the headland and keep the broad horizon in view. The foreground dune gives the coast a close, grounded edge.
