Description
Rothiemurchus appears beside a clear mountain stream, where a single-arched masonry crossing leads the eye towards pine woodland and a blue Highland summit in the Scottish Highlands.
The parapet is capped by small pointed finials, and its pale blocks curve over turquoise shallows scattered with rounded stones. A tall Scots pine rises at the left, joined by darker conifers at the foot of the slope. Above them, broken white cloud drifts across a cool blue sky and the broad peak is marked with pale streaks.
Rothiemurchus has the feel of a place reached on foot, with water and high ground held close together. For people who have spent time in this part of the Highland, the scene recalls a familiar pause near the Cairngorm foothills, where the route opens from trees towards open country.
