Description
Ruberslaw crowns a steep green hill with warm stone ruins, looking over dark woodland, patterned fields and distant Border hills beneath towering summer clouds.
Broken towers and arched openings stand in warm brown stone above a sharply sloping, grass-covered crag. Sunlight reaches the upper walls and the rock below them, while the far side falls into dark conifer woodland. Beyond the trees, yellow-green fields and rounded hills spread across the Borders under a heavy blue-grey sky edged with bright cloud.
Ruberslaw offers a familiar contrast for residents and walkers: rough ground close by, then a long view into cultivated country. The scene keeps the old masonry firmly on the summit, allowing the eye to travel through trees and fields towards the softer hills beyond.
