William Nicholson employed a distinctive woodcut technique for this collection, utilising bold, simplified forms and a restricted colour palette to capture the essence of his subjects. The image presents Kipling in profile, a compositional choice that emphasises his recognisable features, including his signature spectacles and moustache.
