Description
Sandgreen in Dumfries and Galloway sweeps around a softly lit sandy bay, with dark tidal rocks, pale coastal houses and green fields beneath the orange clouds of a quiet summer sunset.
On the shores of Fleet Bay and the Big Water of Fleet, this small coastal settlement is closely associated with holiday homes. A sandy beach forms its seaward edge, linking the houses with the changing tidal landscape of the surrounding Dumfries and Galloway coast.
The elevated view over Sandgreen follows a pale beach around still blue water. Dark ridges of rock break the sand into small coves beneath white cottages and warm red roofs. Hedges divide green fields beyond the houses. The low sun casts a long gold reflection across the bay, suggesting the settled warmth of an evening near summer's end.
