Description
Scarista on Harris spreads a white sandy crescent beside turquoise Atlantic water, with distant crofts and dark green mountains beyond a grassy hillside in bright summer light.
Scarista faces the Atlantic on the western side of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. Its sandy beach is backed by dunes, with Ceapabhal rising at the southwestern end. Nearby slopes provide broad views along the coast towards the island’s more mountainous northern country.
The white shore sweeps from the near bay towards a distant line of tiny houses. Pale turquoise shallows deepen into blue offshore, edged by fine white waves. Across the foreground, grass and low heather cover a rough slope with scattered stones; beyond the crofts, dark green mountains stand below a bright sky full of softly shadowed summer clouds.
