Description
Scrabster in Highland Caithness reflects a dark cargo ship and white shore light in rose coloured harbour water, with distant headlands under glowing clouds on a still late summer evening.
Scrabster occupies the western end of Thurso Bay in Caithness, sheltered by grassy cliffs. The harbour provides a gateway across the Pentland Firth to Orkney, including the ferry route to Stromness. Its piers support cargo handling as well as passenger travel, linking the northern mainland with the islands.
A dark red cargo ship lies beneath a white deckhouse beside the opposite quay. On the left headland, a white lighthouse and adjoining buildings overlook the entrance. Concrete harbour walls cross the foreground above rose and lavender reflections. Tall grass and dark shrubs fill the near bank, while gold edged clouds and calm water suggest a mild evening near summer’s close.
