Description
Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan in Highland Glen Affric lifts a snow streaked rocky crest above gold grass, with purple mountain layers beneath orange cloud towers in the clear light of a late spring sunset.
Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan reaches 1,151 metres at the head of Glen Affric, where several substantial ridges converge. Its remote position makes Alltbeithe a useful base for an ascent. Approaches reach that high glen from Cluanie, Morvich or Glen Affric itself, with a longer alternative following Glen Elchaig.
A narrow rocky crest rises above steep purple flanks streaked with broken snow ribbons. Golden light catches the right face, while the opposite slope falls into deep shadow. Near boulders rest among gold grass and broad snow patches. Layered mountain silhouettes recede beneath tall orange clouds, suggesting a clear sunset towards the end of spring across the western Highlands.
