Description
Sheet centres on a Hampshire village green, where a tall church spire, broad leafy tree and white cottages gather beneath the rolling countryside close to Petersfield.
Just outside Petersfield in East Hampshire, Sheet is a village and civil parish with a green at its centre. Its parish church, St Mary Magdalen, stands on Farnham Road and serves the village alongside parts of the neighbouring town and surrounding countryside.
A slender spire rises to the left of a large green tree, with white cottages lining the far side of the lawn. Sunlit grass fills the foreground, crossed by broad leaf shadows. Beyond the roofs, fields step towards blue wooded hills. The fresh canopy and white flowers suggest late spring or early summer. The view gives as much attention to the open green as to the church.
