Alphonse Mucha created this lithograph in 1908 for the Slavia Mutual Insurance Bank in Prague. The work features a central female figure, personifying the Slavic nation, a common motif in Mucha's later career as he turned his attention toward nationalistic themes. The figure is draped in traditional white garments, accented with ribbons that echo the colours of the Czech flag. She holds a ring, a symbol of unity and protection, while two stylised birds flank her shoulders.
