This ink wash painting by Yun Xiang, a scholar-painter active during the transition from the Ming to the Qing Dynasty, captures a quiet, wintry mountain scene. Yun Xiang, also known by his courtesy name Xiangshan, was associated with the orthodox tradition of literati painting, which prioritised personal expression and brushwork over strict realism.
