Ding Yunpeng, a prominent figure of the late Ming Dynasty, produced this work reflecting the refined aesthetic of the period. The composition draws inspiration from the famous poem by Bai Juyi, which recounts a chance encounter between a government official and a lute player on the Xunyang River.
