Description
Strait of Dover stretches past towering white cliffs and a small headland lighthouse, where sunlit water carries the evening colour across the open horizon.
The nearest cliff drops in long cream and grey planes to a narrow line of dark shore rocks. Above it, a low building sits beside the beacon on the grassy top, while further headlands step away in deep blue shadow. Broad apricot clouds cross the open sky and their colour is repeated in broken bands across the sea.
For people looking out across the Strait of Dover, the chalk edge offers a direct sense of the coast's scale. The lighthouse gives the view a fixed point, while the diminishing headlands and wide water suggest the channel continuing beyond sight.
