Description
Stulaval rises beyond the island-studded waters of Loch Snigiscleit, its long rounded shoulder set against a soft blue sky above a foreground of pale rock and heather.
On South Uist, Loch Snigiscleit lies among low, rocky ground beneath Stulaval. Its shore breaks into small points and islands, with pools caught in the hollows of the surrounding moor and pale stone showing through the vegetation.
Blue water winds between the olive slopes, leading towards the broad hill on the far side. Mauve shadows pick out folds in the hillside below its gently domed summit. Nearer rocks catch cream highlights, while purple heather spreads between patches of grass. A pool in the lower ground repeats the colour of the loch, beneath high clouds tinged with pink.
