Description
Taynuilt in Argyll opens towards blue water between tawny hills, its white houses scattered through golden green fields that give this Highland village a spacious rural setting.
At the western entrance to the Pass of Brander, Taynuilt sits beside the River Nant near its meeting with Loch Etive. Woodland around the village supplied charcoal for Bonawe's iron furnace, established in 1753, connecting this Highland landscape with Scotland's industrial past.
A broad blue inlet extends between wooded hills beyond a scattering of white houses. Yellow green fields descend from the foreground, divided by leafy boundaries and patches of darker trees. Tawny mountain shoulders rise behind the settlement, with more distant summits fading to blue. Cream clouds catch strong daylight overhead, and the mixture of fresh foliage and golden grass suggests late summer.
