Description
Temple Cloud opens across limestone pasture, where a winding dry-stone boundary leads from a rocky track towards a small settlement beneath layered Mendip slopes.
A broad oak anchors the left foreground above pale rock shelves, while smaller trees punctuate divided fields below. The rough path descends between uneven walls, and a slender church tower appears among roofs in the middle distance. Above, a fractured band of exposed rock cuts across the dark hill.
Temple Cloud is a place where lanes and field boundaries give the surrounding Somerset countryside its close-grained pattern. For residents or visitors, this view holds the gradual descent from open ground towards the village and its familiar tower in changing daylight.
