His style blends Venetian colourism with the dramatic flair characteristic of the Neapolitan Baroque school. The painting shows the angel Gabriel descending from the upper left, bearing lilies, symbols of purity, towards Mary, who is kneeling in a posture of humble acceptance. Above, cherubic figures float amidst swirling clouds, bathed in divine light. Mary is draped in rich blue and red robes, colours traditionally associated with her. The composition is dynamic, with figures arranged in a diagonal that draws the viewer's eye from the angel to Mary. The use of light and shadow adds to the drama of the scene, with bright illumination on the main figures contrasting with darker areas that create depth and volume.
