The central figure of Venus is rendered with the smooth, porcelain-like skin tones characteristic of Gérôme's technical precision. Her posture is upright and classical, contrasting with the surrounding atmosphere.

The background is populated by a multitude of putti, or winged infants, who swirl through the sky in a manner that suggests a cloud-like formation.
