Description
The Golden Road opens across Harris in muted colours, its long skyline giving the upland a calm and spacious character beneath the bright sky.
Broken cloud opens to pale blue above the unbroken ridge. Low grasses and scattered stones spread across the slope, with larger rocks clustered near the lower edge. A shallow pool catches the sky in the foreground, keeping the view anchored to the ground. The ridge holds the horizon close beneath the broad sky.
The Golden Road lies on Harris in the Outer Hebrides, where cyclists follow it on Hebridean Way journeys. The route climbs across rocky upland. Travellers who know Harris may recognise the exposed ground and close horizon, where the land rises against an open sky.
