This work by Gojo Tametaka presents a synthesis of visual imagery and calligraphic expression. The composition is vertical, typical of the hanging scroll format, and features a narrow central panel that integrates text with a subtle, atmospheric depiction of rain. The ink work demonstrates a mastery of brush control, with the characters flowing in a rhythmic, cursive style that mirrors the fluid nature of the subject matter.
The imagery at the top of the panel suggests a misty, rain-swept environment, rendered with soft washes of colour that bleed into the paper. This technique evokes the damp, heavy atmosphere of the Japanese rainy season, known as tsuyu.
