Description
The Saddle in Highland Kintail raises a sharp grey crown above green rocky ledges, with narrow snow ribbons tracing the steep corries beneath high white clouds in clear late spring sunshine.
The Saddle reaches 1,010 metres in Kintail and is known for the exposed scrambling route along the Forcan Ridge. Several ridges converge around its high summit, with a long western spur curving towards Shiel Bridge. Alternative walking approaches avoid the most demanding section of the eastern crest.
A pointed grey summit rises above a steep wall cut by deep vertical grooves. Narrow snow ribbons trace sheltered channels between green ledges and dark crags. The near left slope falls away in a succession of grass shelves and exposed rock faces. High white clouds and strong light over the surviving snow suggest a clear late spring interval among the western hills.
