Beham, a member of the group known as the Little Masters, was highly skilled in the production of small-scale prints. This work demonstrates his technical precision in the use of the burin. The figure of Christ is rendered with careful anatomical modelling, while the surrounding space is filled with cherubim and clouds, creating a sense of celestial atmosphere.
