Description
Thetford in Norfolk brings a timber-framed house, riverside ruins and a grassy mound into one warm evening view, with a stone bridge reflected beneath a rose-coloured sky.
In southern Norfolk near the Suffolk boundary, this market town stands on the Little Ouse beside the Breckland landscape. Settlement predates the Norman Conquest, followed by a castle and a Cluniac priory founded by Roger Bigod in 1104, giving the town a substantial medieval heritage.
At Thetford, dark timber beams divide the pale façade of a house with a turquoise bay window. Low stone ruins occupy the grass to its right, and a bridge enters from the left over reflective water. Behind the roofs, a path climbs a rounded green mound. Orange clouds and gold reflections suggest a quiet evening late in summer.
