Description
Thornwick Bay in East Yorkshire reveals white cliffs and broad rock shelves, with turquoise shallows below green coastal slopes and white flowers beneath the bright blue sky of summer.
Just north of Flamborough, this chalk-fringed cove is paired with the smaller beach at Little Thornwick. Erosion has shaped steep cliff faces and rocky shore platforms, while pools among the exposed stone give the bay an intricate edge at low water.
At Thornwick Bay, white chalk walls descend beneath a cap of green grass. Broad pale rock shelves project into blue-green water, their cracks forming a dark angular pattern. More cliffs recede along the distant left shore. White flower heads rise from the nearest slope, and clear cloud shadows suggest a bright summer afternoon above a quiet sea.
