Description
Trollers Gill is pictured as a clear waterfall dropping through layered rock, with wooded slopes, pale cloud and a quiet stream filling the steep Yorkshire gorge.
Water falls in narrow white ribbons from a high cleft, then breaks across shelves of dark stone before reaching the stream. Sunlit ochre faces form the left wall of the ravine, while trees mass at the rim and cast green shadow into the gorge. The water continues between scattered boulders toward the foreground.
At Trollers Gill, the close view brings the scale of the rock gorge into focus without losing the calm of the watercourse. It suits walkers and Yorkshire visitors who know the Dales, giving a particular walk a composed, lasting image.
