Description
Ulrome beside Yorkshire's North Sea presents a striking contrast of fragile brown banks and glistening blue pools, with white flowers softening the edge of the exposed ground.
Along the East Yorkshire coast, Ulrome belongs to the Holderness shoreline, where rapid erosion has made the cliffs a frequent subject of geographical study. The village lies inland of the beach, with a road leading through it towards the sea and the exposed coastal margin.
A broken brown cliff falls steeply beneath a grassy verge, with an orange pipe protruding from the face. Pale houses and utility poles stand farther back on the left. Wide wet sands and shallow pools extend along the shore towards a distant horizon. White wildflowers soften the near edge, and lilac cloud shadows give the sunny scene a slightly cooler coastal light.
