Description
Wembley in northwest London draws the eye along a sunlit paved approach towards a sweeping white arch, with blue glass and leafy terraces framing the stadium entrance.
England's national stadium reopened in 2007 on the site of the original venue. Its arch reaches 133 metres high and supports the roof, making the building a prominent landmark across London as well as a major setting for football and other events.
The white arch at Wembley spans almost the full width of the sky. Fine suspension cables descend towards a rounded roof truss and a blue glazed frontage. In the foreground, broad ramps and steps converge between pale walls, rows of trees and tall dark lamps. Clear clouds and full foliage suggest a bright summer day, with angular shadows crossing the empty pedestrian approach.
