Description
Westminster Abbey in central London presents pale twin towers against a clear blue sky, with pointed windows and leafy framing giving its monumental frontage a calm summer setting.
The church at Westminster has hosted coronations since William the Conqueror's ceremony in 1066. Its connection with the monarchy extends to royal weddings and burials, while Henry III's thirteenth century rebuilding established much of the abbey that visitors recognise today.
Westminster Abbey faces the viewer across a strip of green lawn. Two pinnacled towers rise above a large pointed window and a deeply shaded entrance, their pale surfaces catching warm sunlight. A clock marks the left tower. Trees enclose the edges, with smaller spires visible beyond. Full foliage and a sky scattered with cream clouds suggest midsummer in the capital.
