Albrecht Altdorfer (c. 1480-1538) was a German painter, engraver, and architect of the Renaissance. He is considered one of the main artists of the Danube school, which favored expressive colourism and the depiction of nature. Altdorfer worked for Emperor Maximilian I in Augsburg, and later became city architect of Regensburg. He is known for his landscapes, religious scenes, and his role in the development of early landscape painting. His work often combines religious themes with the natural world.
