Below the sphere, a scroll bears the word 'Mundi', linking the instrument to the broader concept of the world or universe.

These frescoes were commissioned for the headquarters of German merchants in Venice. The choice of astronomical subject matter reflects the intellectual climate of the period, where humanistic inquiry and scientific observation began to merge with artistic practice. The surface shows signs of age and weathering, typical of exterior frescoes exposed to the Venetian climate over centuries. The composition is balanced, with the verticality of the armillary sphere providing a counterpoint to the circular diagrams.
