This lithograph is a cover design for the Dutch art and architecture journal, 'Wendingen' (Changes), designed by El Lissitzky. Lissitzky, a Russian artist, designer, photographer, typographer, polemicist and architect, was an important figure in the Russian avant-garde, helping develop Suprematism with his mentor, Kazimir Malevich, before designing Constructivism. His work greatly influenced the Bauhaus and De Stijl movements. The cover features a bold, geometric composition. A large, red square anchors the lower-left corner, balanced by a black circle in the upper-right. Diagonal lines and rectangular forms in grey and black intersect, creating a dynamic sense of space and movement. The journal's title, 'Wendingen', is printed vertically in grey along the left edge. The design reflects Constructivist principles, emphasising geometric forms and industrial materials to convey a sense of modernity and progress.
