Her relationship with Wassily Kandinsky also influenced her artistic development. Münter's work is characterised by simplified forms, bold colours, and a move away from purely representational art. She often depicted scenes from her surroundings, particularly the Bavarian countryside around Murnau, where she and Kandinsky spent time together.
